The Gaines Family

Wimberley, Texas has been our home away from home for many years! We have been visiting our daughter, Shelli, and her family in Wimberley for years and enjoyed staying at the cabins when the original owners, the Sheffields, owned them.

In January 2017, the opportunity to purchase Cabins on the Square became available. Along with our daughter, Shelli (a real estate agent with an eye for design!), we lovingly renovated and decorated the cabins to preserve their charm and character. The space is unique because of its location in downtown Wimberley with private Cypress Creek access – offering the best of both worlds!

Our permanent residence has been in Waurika, Oklahoma, for over 50 years where we have owned a cattle ranch for 47 years and have had other local businesses over the years, including a clothing store and convenience store. However, we are very excited to move to Wimberley full time in 2024 and be closer to family and our businesses.

Our hobbies include, following Oklahoma State sports, visiting our kids in Edmond, Dallas and Wimberley and catching all the activities we can of our busy grandchildren.

We loved our stay at the Cabin. You cannot beat the location. We were able to walk everywhere we needed. At night, we sat by the creek in the lawn chairs provided and listened to the live music from the restaurant next door. The atmosphere was perfect, and the rooms were clean and just what we needed. We will be back!

Can't get any closer to the main downtown Wimberly area. It was very nice to always have a parking spot. The room was comfy and the outside amenities were great! Would def stay again.

The location was great. You could walk to the shops and restaurants. We enjoyed sitting outside on the front porch and outback on the creek. Check-in was easy, and we didn’t have anything extra that we had to do before checking out.
